Security System
What is a Security System?
You may be wondering how security systems manage to come under the banner of Home Decorating. Well, for one, they are a “must” system to have if you are of the belief that your home is your castle.
Everyone wants to protect and look after their home and contents, whether it is worth a lot of money or not. Nobody likes the thought of strangers rifling through their things, especially sentimental items or hard earned possessions.
Secondly, if you are going to go down the path of protecting both your family and your possessions, then you may as well do it in style. There are certainly state of the art systems around now. They aren’t hard to operate and they actually look really good. So, if you want not only an effective system, but one that manages to look aesthetically pleasing, then it pays to do your research.
So, what is a security system?
Simply put, it is a device or set of devices designed to detect or monitor activity that poses a threat or security risk in your home or business. It is a complete system that secures a home from various threats such as intrusion or burglary or fire and can even include a medical monitoring service.
An even simpler explanation is that a Security System is an electrical device fitted in your house or business that sets off an alarm when movement is detected.
Why do We Need a Safety System?
Security systems are now created to allow you, as the home owner (or business owner), peace of mind. They are made to allow the system to be operated easily whilst maintaining maximum security against intrusion, damage or loss for a persons’ home or business. The security system can protect your family whilst at home, and can link very quickly to authorities such as police or fire departments whilst you are away.
Burglary or intrusion – Alarms will be activated if you are out and an intruder gets into your house. Likewise, if you want to protect your family whilst sleeping, there are often systems that allow the outside alarms only to go off (in the case of someone breaking in), so movement inside the house isn’t detected (the householders).
Medical response - Some companies offer medical monitoring services. The channel allows the client to call emergency medical response without any delays.
Fire - Imagine being able to have an immediate fire response through your security system? If a monitored fire alarm goes off, the company immediately notifies the fire department.
What to Look out for When You Own a System.
Double Billing Fraud
Because there are so many companies selling security systems, the business is very competitive. Some not-so-reputable companies may try to get you to change to theirs security system after you have already purchased another. They do this by telling you lies about the first company. If you are not vigilant and make a call to the original company you are dealing with, you may unwittingly sign up to another contract and then be left paying two bills instead of one, hence the term double billing fraud.

lse / no alarms
System reliability can be a problem when it causes false alarms. This can happen fairly frequently. You, as a purchaser, want to know that the company you are buying from has installed as many safeguards as possible to eliminate nuisance call outs for authorities. Read more about this in Alarm Installation.
